Our Services: New Construction Custom Homes

New Construction Custom Homes

Shadowlawan Dr.

Michael Robert Construction takes on new custom construction homes for clients who have land to build a home, or have an existing structure that needs to be knocked down. We do not build houses on speculation for sale since all of our homes are custom built for our client’s unique needs.

Our team of professionals, including both designers and builders, handle everything from the initial design to completion of the construction (and even to interior design, if desired). We can work with you to create architectural renderings and plans with our design team and architect on record in a Design/Build capacity and we can also work with existing architectural plans.

We are proud of our hyper-local New Jersey building focus; it has enabled us to understand the area’s processes, regulations, most talented trade partners and aesthetic. We’re completed almost 150 renovated/remodeled/custom new construction homes in the following areas, where we focus our work:

      • Westfield
      • Scotch Plains
      • Cranford
      • Milburn
      • Summit
      • Chatham
      • Short Hills
      • Mountainside

We will let our work do the talking with a walk-through of one of our award-winning new construction custom homes.

This home, “Shadowlawn Drive” is the first of its kind in Westfield. Once you’ve seen the pictures, come back here to learn the story behind the home!

Avid travelers and beach-seekers, Ellie and Mike brought their love of the West Coast lifestyle to life in this new home imbued with classic materials, clean, fresh lines, and blurring of indoor and outdoor spaces.

The home’s tone is set at first glance by its exterior’s unique blending of cedar, stucco and brick and its dramatic windows. Black trim, polished nickel hardware, shades of white and textured black are themes carried throughout the interior. The marble-floored porch, with its 2-way fireplace and gas lanterns, is flanked by a porte-cochère with a gas-lit chandelier designed by Ellie.

The foyer encapsulates the home’s merging of organic and luxe, with its coco bead chandelier and custom cast stone and steel entry table, while also showcasing the attention to symmetry and balance. The guest room to one side is a light-soaked haven furnished in the elegant, layered, minimalist, organic décor Ellie carefully chose throughout the home. The fireplace- centered lounge to the other side, with its dramatic yet minimalist décor, is equipped with modular furniture to smartly accommodate the couple or a whole crew. The spectacularly layered trim and molding, one of Mike’s trademarks, is not to be overlooked.

In contrast to the main entrance, the mosaic marble tiled mudroom entrance includes all of the amenities to accommodate busy family life, while maintaining the home’s aesthetic. Abundant custom inset storage, a hidden washer/drier and a home office act as a functional hub.

The kitchen and dining space are flooded with natural light, with easy access to the patio for al fresco dining. Unique features include the dramatic marble backsplash and island edge, custom plaster hood and inset cabinets. Adjacent to the kitchen is an entertaining space complete with a full-wall bar and floor-to-ceiling custom metal wine storage. Foiled wallpaper adds luxe drama, in contrast to the subtle surrounding palette; another example of Ellie’s signature “laid back and luxe” touch. The family room features a spectacular ship-lapped vaulted ceiling, cast stone fireplace, wood built-ins with a hidden beverage refrigerator and outdoor access. Dramatic leather-woven hanging lights from South Africa, layered furnishings and tone-on-tone color complete the space.

The basement is the ultimate hang out for the two Mroz boys. With an egress door providing direct access and natural light, this space, complete with a full home theatre and custom kitchen/bar and built-ins, is definitively unique.

Attention to materials and detail are carried through to the Mroz living quarters on the second floor. Highlights include the master bedroom’s cedar-planked tray ceiling, his/her custom closet, and exquisite lighting. The boy’s rooms include impeccable custom built-ins for schoolwork and storage, and a secret tunnel for adventure, reflecting the Mroz’ fundamental design credo: homes can be both livable and luxe, functional and fun.
