About This Project

A design/build custom new construction home in Westfield, NJ, “#theGoodBuild” is the outcome of a joint effort from the start between Ellie Mroz Design and Michael Robert Construction. Our clients, a young active family, tasked us with guiding the process from conceptual design through construction and interiors. They had a few must-haves; modern farmhouse feel (with a red front door on the wish list) and a vaulted family room ceiling.  Our must-have was building a unique, cohesive fresh and cozy farmhouse suited for modern family living. Throughout the home, airy rooms with large windows, brick, natural woods, shiplap, and lots of custom built-ins for sitting with a good book attest to our goals.  The 3,500 square feet of the home are imbibed with classic materials and architectural elements that match our young family client’s needs – open and fresh married with classic farmhouse flair. From the inviting front porch flanked with copper gas lanterns to the vaulted family room ceiling designed to maximize views of endless backyard trees, this home is both functional and farmhouse fresh.
